Advantage Oregon:
- Advantage Oregon is a wholly owned subsidiary corporation of the Oregon Association of
Nurseries based in Wilsonville, Ore. OAN submitted an application for articles of incorporation
on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005.
- Mission statement: Advantage Oregon strives to enhance the competitive position of Oregon
nursery growers and other Oregon shippers of temperature sensitive agricultural commodities
by delivering superior transportation management services at the most competitive rates.
- Advantage Oregon will operate with a seven-person board of directors that includes
representation from the nursery industry and other sectors of Oregon agriculture, as well as a
public sector transportation representative.
- OAN will hire experienced logistics staff to manage and operate Advantage Oregon. In 2006, the
company will hire a general manager, a senior logistics analyst and clerical staff. Also, the
company will retain the services of an experienced transportation consultant. Plans are in place
to grow staff and services for 2007 and beyond.
- With financial backing in hand from the Oregon Association of Nurseries, Advantage Oregon
will apply for $600,000 in start-up funding from Oregon's Department of Administrative
Services, as provided for by SB 5520, passed in August 2005.
- Advantage Oregon will begin service for the nursery industry in spring 2006 by offering freight
management services to nurseries shipping full trailers loads with a limited number of
destination stops. The company will scale-up to offer a broad array of services to multiple
perishable goods sectors in 2007.
